MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - Grammy nominated
singer-songwriter Angie Stone was killed in a crash on Interstate 65 in
Montgomery County early Saturday morning, her manager Deborah Champagne
confirmed to WSFA 12 News. She was 63.
Champagne says Stone was leaving a performance and
heading toward the CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore when the crash
happened.
The Mobile
Area Mardi Gras Association says that final performance was at the
2025 Grand Marshal’s Ball in Mobile.
Interstate 65 was partially blocked in Montgomery County for hours due to the wreck, which involved a commercial vehicle.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the
crash happened just before 7 a.m. about 2 miles south of Hope Hull and blocked
the left northbound lane and the left southbound lanes.
ALEA Troopers declared all lanes open and the scene clear
at 11 a.m.
Nothing further is available at this time. ALEA Troopers
continue investigate the incident.
